Refugee Women around the UK
All over the UK, refugee women are speaking up and organising for themselves. We work in partnership with many groups in other cities, including in Manchester, Cardiff and Stoke-on-Trent.
WAST Manchester
Women Asylum Seekers Together Manchester is a group of women who have sought asylum in the UK. We are often in vulnerable situations – isolated, traumatised, in ill health, facing destitution, homelessness, and deportation. But we refuse to be invisible and we are making our voice heard. We provide a safe and secure women only space and a source of support and empowerment.

Women Seeking Sanctuary Advocacy Group, Cardiff
We work with and for refugee women in order to bring about positive changes in the refugee system and to enhance the ability to rebuild lives. We are committed to campaigning on women’s asylum issues, to promote social cohesion, build confidence and self-esteem, and to enhance active citizenship. We empower and support women seeking sanctuary in Wales to voice their needs and represent themselves at strategic and policy making levels.

Embrace, Stoke on Trent
Embrace supports women and children who are destitute as a result of the asylum process. We welcome women who have little or no statutory support, or who are about to have their support withdrawn. We offer advocacy and help with accessing legal advice and financial support; weekly sessions ranging from sexual health advice and support to beauty treatments and textile design, and a chance to connect with other women who have refugee status or who are asylum seekers. We have supervised crèche facilities for children, free refreshments and food and provision parcels.
When: Wednesdays, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Where: St Mark's Church in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 4LT

I admire the work carried out by Women for Refugee Women. By telling the true stories of women and children in the asylum process they woke a lot of people up to the scandal of child detention.
Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse
I have been delighted to support Women for Refugee Women since its launch- I've been truly inspired by the great work this organisation does, enabling women who seek asylum to speak out - whether at the grassroots or to government ministers.
Oona King
Many refugees and asylum seekers have fled their home countries because of human rights abuses. The work of agencies like Women for Refugee Women is vital for helping people rebuild their lives and have a voice.
Trevor Phillips OBE, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission
Put the word refugee in front of woman and immediately prejudice and projection arise. Meet a refugee woman, hear her struggles – and her joys – and you encounter a person, like you and me, who has been more than unlucky....
....Women for Refugee Women joins the dots, restores our humanity to ourselves and enables women to fight for theirs. Please support them.
