Promoting the rights of women seeking asylum in the UK
WAST: Women Asylum Seekers Together, London
WAST is a self-help group run by and for women who are seeking asylum.
Women from any country and in any stage of the asylum system, including failed asylum seekers, are welcome.
At WAST we create a safe space where women seeking asylum can:
- Meet other women who are seeking asylum
- Share experiences and get friendly advice and support from women who understand what we are going through
- Learn about the campaigning organisations, drop-in centres and different networks that may be able to help us
- Identify training needs and find training opportunities to suit us
- Support WAST members who choose to talk publicly about their situation to do so
- Support WAST members who are running individual campaigns against deportation
Our aim is to help each other to help ourselves
Food and drink provided, plus £6 travel expenses for everyone. Children are welcome.
